In Mostar, Franciscan friars have been settled ever since the 16 ^th century, after they escaped the Turkish army. They built Živogošće’s Franciscan Monastery in the year 1616 and it was the areas centre of spiritual life and literacy, with its rich library and valuable art work. Today it is a wonderful place to visit and see all these treasures.
